Roland Shalamberidze (b. 1958, Kutaisi, Georgia) is a conceptual painter whose work moves between abstraction and metaphysics. Emerging from the non-conformist underground of 1980s St Petersburg, he became one of the few artists to translate the spiritual intensity of that era into a universal, contemporary language.
